Marley Birkdale Slates: 600mm x 300mm

The Marley Birkdale, the versatile fibre cement roofing slate features a smooth surface and realistic, dressed edges. Available in a traditional blue-black colour option, the overall effect is exceptionally authentic.

Birkdale slates are lighter than a traditionally quarried slate, and easier to work without wet cutting. The slate can be scored and snapped over a straight edge or cut with a 3.5mm toothed hacksaw.

Marley Birkdale slate is manufactured from a blend of Portland cement and water, mixed with synthetic and natural fibres.

Features & Benefits:

  • Smooth surface finish with dressed edges.
  • An affordable alternative to traditional slate.
  • Minimum pitch of 15 º wit0h Hook Fixing - these slates are un-holed.
  • Proven to deliver 60+ years of life expectancy.
  • Manufactured from mixed Portland cement, water, natural & man-made fibres.
  • UV resistant acrylic face wax coating on the back.
  • Product Code: 1404.
  • Manufacturer: Marley Eternit.
  • Size: 600mm x 300mm (600mm x 600mm slate also available).
  • Colour: Blue-Black.
  • Avg. Guideline Weight: 20.5 kg/square meter (dependent on pitch/lap).
  • Meets BS EN 492.
  • Very Good BES 6001 (Responsible Sourcing) rating can achieve 3 credits.
  • Fully recyclable, with a low carbon footprint of 13 CO2e/m ².
  • Coverage: Approximately 14 slates / m ².
  • The slate is recyclable.
  • Fibre Cement Datasheet.

Buyer's notes:
As with all fibre cement slates, it is recommended that only copper fixings (Copper Nails & Copper Disc Rivets) are used.

Due to the close-fitting nature of fibre cement slates, in accordance with BS5250, ventilation of the roof space is required (normally at the eaves and at a high level). The easiest way to achieve this is to install Eaves Vents and Dry Ridge Systems.
