Suitable for roof pitches from 15 to 55 degrees, smoothly profiled Marley Modern Ridge tiles cap the roof of a contemporary property with a stylish, sophisticated finish.

Each of these elegant ridge tiles measures 447mm in length, with a width of 248mm. The height is 91mm from base to apex. The apex has a rounded profile, making this tile an attractive alternative to either an angled or half-round ridge tile.

Marley Modern Ridge tiles have all the adaptability expected of a concrete tiling solution. As delivered, the tiles are ready for installation using a Marley dry-fix system. With simple drilling on site the tiles can be adapted for combined mortar/mechanical fixing. This type of ridge matches well with most types of concrete roof tile currently available on the UK roofing supplies market. Concrete tiles are strong and long-lasting. They also weather well, retaining their attractive appearance over time.

What is Efflorescence and how do we treat it?

Efflorescence is a natural result of the reaction between cement and water. The calcium hydroxide ‘lime’ is a product of this reaction, which rises to the surface of the tile. It cannot be seen when wet but when the tile is dry a chalky, white residue can be seen.

The occurrence of efflorescence on concrete roof tiles is erratic and unpredictable, but weather conditions seem to be a significant factor.

Efflorescence forms more readily when the concrete tile becomes wet and dries slowly, and therefore, occurs more often during winter.
It is generally only likely to occur in the early life of the product, so materials installed for a year or more without experiencing efflorescence are unlikely to be affected in the future.

Marley concrete roof tiles have a pigmented polymer surface coating to help suppress the formation of efflorescence compounds. This coating has a lifespan of three to five years. By the time this coating has weathered, the concrete tile will have matured to such an extent that it is no longer susceptible to efflorescence.
