100mm Black Coated Slate Hooks Point Driven

These 150mm spikes ended driven slate hooks provide you with an alternate way to secure slates on a roof. Slate hooks allow you to say goodbye to clout nails giving the slates better support because the slate is supported at four points.

The extra support means that your roof will have improved resistance to wind.

How Slate Hooks work

The top edge of the slate is held under the top part of the hook.

The shaft of the hook runs down along the side of the slates in the next course, and the return grip at the bottom of the hook holds the bottom of the slate across the face.

This means that each slate is held in place by four hooks, giving your roof a lot of extra stability.

  • Hooks are made of stainless steel of various grades (304/316) coated or not.
  • Only stainless steel of minimum grade 304 or better, 316 can be guaranteed.
  • Only the 316 grade can be guaranteed in industrial areas or severe coastal exposure (front of sea).
  • The coating is purely decorative and does not influence the resistance to corrosion of the material.
  • The coating will usually last ten years or more, except in very abrasive conditions (salted winds for instance).
  • Hooks are often used when making small repairs or replacing individual slates on the roof.
