C24 Rough Sawn Treated Timber
C24 strength graded timber that has been regularised to consistent widths for working accurately, kiln dried for extra stability and pressure treated to enhance resistance against rot and insect attack.
A structural-grade softwood that has not been planed or smoothed, retaining a textured, "fuzzy" surface from the mill. It is specifically strength-graded to C24, making it the preferred choice for heavy-duty structural applications where appearance is less critical than load-bearing performance.
Key Characteristics
Finish: Unlike "regularised" timber, rough sawn remains at its full nominal size and features a coarse texture that provides a better grip for adhesives and membranes.
Structural Grade: Graded to C24 (BS EN 14081), it offers higher density, better bending strength, and fewer knots than C16, allowing for longer spans in joists and rafters.
Treatment: Typically pressure-treated with preservatives like Tanalith 'E' to protect against fungal decay, rot, and wood-boring insects in external or damp environments.
