Code 4 Lead Flashing

Code 4 Lead Flashing is one of the most used types of Milled Lead used in roofing. It is 1.80mm in thickness and weighing 20.41kg per m², it is typically used to create pitched lead valley gutters and flashing

This Code 4 Flashing is milled lead (sometimes referred to a rolled lead) produced to the BS EN 12588:2006 and BS EN 14783:2013, which the Lead Sheet Association offers a 50-year warranty if it is installed in accordance with them and following BS 6915.

This Code 4 Lead flashing is available in a range of standard width and can be cut to a range of lengths to suit from 1m up to 6m.

The longevity of lead makes this an extremely cost-effective material whilst still being friendly to the environment, as lead is a recyclable material with 99% metal out every time it is recycled, and its low melting point makes it very energy efficient to recycle Lead Flashing.

Do I need patination oil?

The Lead Sheet Association (LSA) recommends that you use patination oil on all lead installations. This helps you prevent patina (Lead carbonate) from being produced. This white powdery deposit is soluble, risking the patina to leave unsightly marks and streaks down the roof.

Patination oil should be able applied after installing lead and before it gets wet, and it provides a uniform finish. It is available to purchase with the lead as a package.
